This dimaltoside is the first detergent developed which utilizes the stereo-chemistry of the detergent molecule to effectively stabilizes proteins including several transporters and GPCRs. This detergent contains a symmetrical plane, which is thought to be favorably associated with crystal lattice formation of membrane proteins. It can be used as an alternative to DDM and LMNG.
