For the month of September, Walt is traveling to Sapporo, Japan for the Liposome Research Days meeting from September 15-18. The symposium will be held in the Conference Hall at Hokkaido University.

The Liposome Research Days Conferences started in 1990, and this will be the third held in Japan. The 5th Conference was held in Shizuoka in 1996, and the 11th Conference was held in Yokohama in 2008. The LRD Conferences focus on lipid-containing structures from basic studies, from the physicochemical properties of liposomes to clinical applications of drug delivery systems, or DDS.

People come from all over the world to attend these events, primarily from the United States, Canada, England, the Netherlands, Germany, Israel, China, and Japan. Attendees come with a variety of experience levels, from beginning students to the original founders of the field. They hear presentations at the cutting edge of lipid research from ongoing research to future perspectives.

Walt and his team will be giving a presentation called “Liposomal Formulations: Analytical Techniques from Concepts to Final Product.” This year’s presentations will focus on recent progress in liposome and lipid research from basic research in biochemistry and biophysics to clinical application of nanomedicines. The presentations will highlight a variety of innovations in the field, including breakthrough technologies based on liposome and lipid research.

The topics for the 2019 Liposome Research Days include:

  • Drug Delivery
  • Nucleic Acids/Gene Delivery
  • Vaccination
  • Imagine
  • Microfluidics/New Lipids
  • Clinical Applications

An important part of every Liposome Research Days Conference is the Bangham Award ceremony. Walt won this Lifetime Achievement award for Liposome Research in 2017. This year’s winner is Professor Naoto Oku. For all of Walt’s travels, and more information about our products and services, contact Avanti Polar Lipids today!
